This is a blog about my findings relating to dental, mental, and general physical health over 40 years of research and clinical experience. It is not medical advice and consultation with your physician is advised. This blog does not contitute a doctor/patient relationship. I recommend a radical change in the entire medical system based on a different sequence of treatment that I will explain through the course of the postings.

The Hijacked Mind

The exact mechanism is unknown but it has been said that an addict has a hijacked mind. A possible scenario for this hijacking occurred to me while reading an endocrinology text. The words came off the page and hit me. They read, “Decreased ADH secretion even in the presence of a low water intake is consistently seen after alcohol intake and results in a large volume of .”

I had learned of this mechanism years before when I studied with Dr. Melvin Page, a genius in the treatment of glandular problems. This was the first time that I had seen a reference to it in an endocrinology text. Another key to the puzzle is knowing that the adrenal cortex opposes the posterior pituitary gland the source of ADH. This I learned from Dr. Page. He also found that some individuals namely 88% of women in the U.S. and 39% of men have an inherited deficiency of the posterior pituitary gland. The amount of deficiency can vary. He found this out with a system of anthropometric measurements and confirmed it with tests by giving these deficient individuals posterior pituitary substance. He also found that individuals with manic depression have a severe deficiency of the posterior pituitary gland.

Here’s the possible scenario for a hijacking. An individual is depressed, bored, experimenting, subject to peer pressure or whatever and takes a drink of alcohol. The alcohol suppresses the posterior pituitary gland, ADH decreases, there is frequency of ion, the feedback mechanism to the adrenal cortex is interrupted, the adrenal cortex overfunctions and cortsol levels increase. Increased cortisol results in depression. When depressed the individual may turn to more alcohol or . The individual is now set up for a scenario that will further weaken the posterior pituitary gland over time and lead to more depression and worse manic depression and possibly an addiction. The mind has been subtly hijacked.

Page used specific gravity to check on posterior pituitary gland activity. This simple test can be routinely added to treatment centers because the is frequently tested. It can be used to check for undiagnosed manic depression. If the individual is clean for alcohol and is not drinking caffeine or taking diuretics it will be a valid test. The normal range for specific gravity of is 1.018-1.022. Anything lower than this represents under activity of the posterior pituitary gland. The individual is not concentrating his or her sufficiently. Treatment of manic depression has been successfully accomplished with posterior pituitary substance. The mechanism of this subtle hijacking should be emphasized to all individuals in treatment programs. If they are manic depressive their posterior pituitary gland is already deficient and probably severely deficient. Alcohol will make a bad situation even worse.

Deficiency of the posterior pituitary gland is common in many alcoholics as evidenced by the fact that they drink large quantities of liquid. It also causes other problems, weight problems, high pressure, type II diabetes, arthritis, periodontal disease, high decay rates, hypersexuality, unwanted hair on the upper lip and cheeks of women, spontaneous abortion, sterility in women.

Page found that this gland is the only one that can be improved by diet, namely by the elimination of sugar and alcohol and fructose in quantities found in fruit juices. While diet improves the situation most deficient individuals require supplementation.

Andrea Yates---The Andrea Yates case is a prime example of a missed diagnosis, valedictorian in high school, national honor society, on the high school swimming team, became a nurse. The s of her children was a tragedy but a bigger tragedy was her treatment or lack of it. Prior to the tragic event she was taken off her antipsychotic medicine and told to think positive thoughts and get counseling. Her psychiatrist was probably correct in taking her off the antipsychotic medicine because her correct diagnosis is probably manic depression and not just depression, so she was undiagnosed and untreated. I have not measured her but examination of her pictures reveals a pronounced curvature of the lower leg half-way between the ankle and knee, characteristic of posterior pituitary gland deficiency. She was never given posterior pituitary. Articles on the posterior pituitary gland are in my books, The Hormone Mess and How To Fix It and A Magic Bullet Cure For Depression and Manic Depression and Parent Screen at www.amazon.com R. Parent Screen is here! This is a proactive method for parents to quickly check their children for posterior pituitary gland deficiency. It only requires 6 measurements on each side. Page believed that severe deficienbcy of the posterior pituitary gland causes manic depression. This instruction book with measuring grids are available at our office for only $10.00 including shipping and handling. This system helps to rule out ADD or ADHD and it gives an accurate estimate of posterior pituitary gland activity. Call 412-655-2662 to order. R. Forbes

Learn About Your Glands --- To learn about the Page Method of glandular assessment you should read all of Page's books listed at the Page library at www.ifnh.org. You can also read my books which simplify the Page technique so anyone can measure themselves and determine their inherited glandular pattern. Adrenal Exhaustion -- some in the medical conmmunity think that adrenal exhaustion is a figment of the imagination of alt. medicine advocates. That is far from the truth -- it exists. The posterior pituitary gland opposes the adrenal contex -- most in medicine don't know this. When the post pit is overactive it supresses the adrenal cortex and causes a reduced ability to handle stress. Testosterone alone or sometimes with estrogen will work against the over active posterior pituitary, support the adrenals and keep things in balance. This pattern is seen a lot and the treatment for it works. Dwarfs and Giants -- Unless you are a pituitary dwarf or giant or have acromeglia you won't have your pituitary gland treated by modern medicine. Slight overactivity or underactivity of this gland is just not detected. Overactivity of the anterior pituitary gland is a particular problem. It is seen in type I diabetes cases, 95% of all cancer cases, at least 50% of cases of periodontal disease, and arthritis cases. The overactivity of this gland has to be supressed and the hormones will do this. It involves using micro doses of estrogen, testosterone, or a combination of both. This treatment also does double duty because it also corrects the andric/gynic balance. Testing by checking calcium/phosphorous ratios and sugar levels is used to determine the correct combination and dosages. R. Forbes

Other Glands -- The Page anthropometric measuring system is a quick way to determine someone's inherited glandular pattern. It tells you where to start in treatment. Without this it would take numerous tests and be too cumbersome. Basically you don't want to have any underactive or overactive glands because they cause killer and degenerative diseases. The more you know about this system the more you will realize that the current of medical treatment is a mess. Sometimes patients are taking 3-4 medications with possible side effects when one glandular supplement will often do the trick. R. Forbes
